RALLY AMERICA ANNOUNCES EXPANDED NORTHEAST REGIONAL RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 2010 SEASON

Partners with Sports Car Club of NH, Killington Sports Car Club & Sports Car Club of Vermont to develop 12-event Championship Series

(Golden Valley, MN) Rally America, Inc., the premier sanctioning body for rally car racing in the United States, recently announced an expanded Northeast Regional Rally Championship at the New England Forest Rally awards banquet which took place in Newry, Maine.

To support the ever-increasing popularity of rallying in the Northeast at the regional level, officials with Rally America have joined forces with three local sports car clubs in New Hampshire and Vermont to develop a 12-event regional rally championship for the 2010 season.

Included in the expanded Rally America Northeast Regional Rally Championship will be seven tarmac hill climb events currently organized by the Sports Car Club of New Hampshire, the Sports Car Club of Vermont and the Killington Sports Car Club.

Taking place at various locations throughout Vermont, the coefficient 1 rally events will include two hill climbs each at the Mt. Ascutney State Park in Windsor, VT; the Okemo Mountain Resort in Ludlow, VT and at Burke Mountain State Park in Burke, VT as well as one hill climb event at the Mt. Philo State Park in Charlotte, VT.

Rounding out the 2010 Rally America Northeast Regional Rally Championship will be two coefficient 3 rally events each at both the legendary Susquehannock Trail Performance Rally in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania and the very popular New England Forest Rally in Newry, Maine as well as a coefficient 1 rally at the Team O’Neil Rally School in Dalton, New Hampshire.

“Growing the sport of rallying at the Regional level is extremely important for the future of rally racing here in the United States”, stated Rally America’s Managing Director J.B. Niday. “Joining forces with the three sports car clubs in New Hampshire and Vermont to offer a greatly expanded regional championship for rally teams in the Northeast to hone their skills is a great opportunity for everyone involved.”

The details regarding how the championship will be decided and exact schedule of the 2010 Rally America Northeast Regional Rally Championship will be finalized and announced by officials in the coming months. For more information on the hill climb events which will be added to the 2010 Rally America schedule, please visit www.hillclimb.org for details.

Rally America sanctions Northwest, West, and Central Regional Rally Championships in addition to the Northeast Regional Rally Championship. With the addition of the seven new Northeast events, Rally America will now sanction nearly 30 regional rally events in 2010. So the 12 events are: the seven hillclimbs, the 3 rallies listed, and what else?

Do we need coefficient points to drive awd turbo in the rally class at any of the hillclimbs?

This sounds like a perfect way to get my foot in the door...

I think to compete in the Rally class at the hillclimbs you need to have a RallyAmerica spec car, with a logbook, and a RA license.

and someone crazy enough to ride in your passenger seat. :rally:
It follows all rally america rules.
at the Neha hillclimbs, there will be a rally class. Those competitors, will get a recce on friday night. Then all their runs will be combined together for the lowest time. We ship the times off to rally-america and they calculate points.

Joey, I think you need to start off with a N/A car to get your license with Rally America, but yes it's a good way to get your foot in the door. The intent of the regional series was to make a low-buck feeder series to folks feet wet in the sport, without having to drive halfway across the country.

Ascutney (X2), Okemo (X2), Burke (X2), Philo (X1), Susquehannock (X2), New England Forest Rally (X2), Dalton (X1) = 12 events...

IMHO, this is great news :woot:
