2011: ITT Sunday February 27!!!

Post by pdudley42 »

As of today, Malletts Bay is ready to support the SCCV. We will host our first ITT of the year this coming Sunday. There is no snow on the lake at this time, so low bumpers and unprotected oil pans should not be a problem. It should be noted that the first 4-6" are white ice, which is bumpy in some places where snow drifts have melted and refroze. I drilled about 20 holes, finding an average of 16" of ice with a low of 13 and a high of 17. I found no slush or wet spots at all!!
Remember, the lake counts as a public highway so if you bring an illegal car, you're at risk of getting a ticket.
A friendly reminder of some good ice etiquette: 1. Don't park right next to another car. The lake is large, so spread em out a little. 2. Turn your headlights on anytime you're driving.
3. Find your tow points front and rear ahead of time. 4. Don't bring a car with a fluid leak. 4a. If your car develops a fluid leak, get it off the lake ASAP, even if if means getting someone to tow you all the way to shore.
With these events, we are taking advantage of one of America's few remaining automotive freedoms, so don't screw it up for all of us. We draw a fair amount of attention out on the lake, so if you enter, consider yourself an ambassador of motorsport.
Send me a PM for any specific questions.
See you on the lake!!!

Larson, are you trailering the Jetta? Did you get those bolt tires finished?

Bolt tires just need the sealant put in.

I think I'm going to make the crappy Jetta legally insured and registered. It'll make a good mud season car versus the lowered V8.

Well, on second thought... maybe I'll use this as an excuse to finally do a couple simple things to the car and make some futile attempts to keep traction...

Stig, if you bring your bolt tires up to the shop this week I'll help you fix them.

If I come up with a set of wheels to put them on I'll give you a call.
