THUNDER ROAD ENDURO 200---SUNDAY AUGUST 7

Post by pdudley42 »

Just two weeks till my favorite day of the year. Usually around 120 cars start the enduro and around 30 finish. The race lasts about 90 minutes. That means an attrition rate of ONE CAR PER MINUTE!!! If you've never seen it, it's unlike any other sight. I'm driving a Ford Taurus SHO for its fifth consecutive year. This year I may even change the oil.
I believe Cliff Collins is entering as well in the former Jim Bauman-owned Honda Accord wagon. He drove the same car in last year's enduro, and was doing really well before he got shunted into a mangled control arm.
(Jeff Collins could still be talked into racing, but he needs an appropriate car to fall into his lap. Any ideas?)
The reason I'm really posting this is that I'm looking to borrow a Go-Pro or equal. Last year I used an Aiptec for in-car video and it came out awesome. Now I lost (or lent out and forgot) my only copy of last year's in-car, and my Aiptec broke. I've got a u-bolt style rollbar mount, just need the camera.
And oh yeah, you can BRING BEER!!!!!

It's in the evening. Stop at t-road on the way back. It's worth it.

It's true. The enduro doesn't get rolling till around 7:30 Sunday evening. Usually the last 1/2 hour to hour is in the dark.

I saw on the flyer T-road sends out that post time for the race is 6pm, not 7 like I thought. I still believe it doesn't get going until after 7 though.

Don't they usually do some sort of Junkyard warrior feature, as it's the one night a year they can be the top billed race. I think they run it before the enduro.

Street Stocks and Junkyard Warriors both race before the enduro. A couple years ago a wheel, complete with axle, came flying over the turn 1 bank and bounced off a few enduro cars, including mine. Good stuff, definitely could've killed someone.
