Latest acquisition: Typ 85!

Post by 8valvegrowl »

So, with great sadness, I finally sold the Subaru...it was mechanically great, but the tinworm was just too far along.

So this weekend I replaced the old girl with this:

1987 4000CS quattro
2.2L 10v I-5
5-speed with short shift kit
141K

Price: Free.

Slow, but very clean overall. She makes some great noises too!

Cleanest looking one I think I've ever seen. Price is right.
So you are going to hillclimb it at philo right?

The body/interior is pretty clean...little bit of rust here and there. It looks better in the photos than it really is, but it's waaaay more solid than the Subie was.

Hillclimbing? Maybe, but not this year.

Nice. Definitely the right price, and nice enough to invest a little time and money in still.

Think of the possiblities!

10v Turbo.... no

20v Turbo... perhaps

4.2L 32v V8.... Yes!

And they all just bolt right in. One weekend away!

I've been toying with the idea of a 20vT swap. The V8 is intriguing, but I'm more of a FI kind of guy.

The car is light, so 150-175whp would probably make it pretty darn quick. The car needs a little bit of sorting on the brakes/suspension end.

The other swap I thought would be good would be a 5 cylinder 20v NA. That's 164bph stock and with the chip and injectors more. Plus you could always add the 034 turbo kit.

^Lulz, I know...luckily the aftermarket for old Audis is not huge.

2800 pounds for a midsize 4 door AWD car with an iron block is pretty light in my book.
