How to use Youtube tags

Post by Rabbit Farmer »

Let's say you have the following link that you copied from youtube

Code: Select all

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZS_xfXLrSE&feature=related
The important parts to understand in the above is "http://www.youtube.com/" is the website, "/watch?v=" is telling youtube to play a certain video and "4ZS_xfXLrSE" is the video number. Then you will see "&" and various information afterwards.

You need to delete everything after the video number (in this case, delete "&feature=related") to make the youtube tags work.

After you delete the extra stuff, highlight the link (in this case http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ZS_xfXLrSE) and click on the youtube tag button. (or you can click on the youtube tag button and then paste the link between the tags).

You will end up with this:

Code: Select all

That works like this:

I don't know why, but youtube has changed to some shorter links (i.e. http://youtu.be/NUCtYCYd1u8) that do not work with the forum tags.

And where to get the long link that works with the tags?

Click the Share button, click on Options, select the long tag checkbox. You now have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUCtYCYd1u8
