Nice! Good luck with the DMV too, hopefully they approve it.
Also If you want a second Corbeau FX1 seat for the passenger side let me know, I've got one thats never been used that I've had sitting around for a while as it doesnt quite fit without contacting the center console and door card on my '98 RS, so I'm looking for something a little narrower.

Re: New project a comin'
Thanks, but you are right, I do have two.
It hit the center tunnel on my RS as well but not the door card.
Does the same in the wrx chassis, but allows me to be close enough to the pedals that I don't mind. If I raise it up half an inch it won't be a problem.
Then again I don't have the center console in the car which helps out a lot.
We actually had to modify the corbeau brackets to get a better recline angle for the seat, so that may also help.

Re: New project a comin'
So what do you do when you've pulled the seats out, and you need to drive the car?
Some people use a milk crate as temporary solution, not me.
Why use a crate when you can use a wicked cool trike.
A little high for my tastes, but surprisingly comfy.

Re: New project a comin'
Some small victories.
With the nice weather, I was able to work on the car a little bit yesterday.
The wrx fuel tank/pump/fuel level sender didn't like to play nice with the old RS dash fuel level gauge. Found some wiring diagrams for both cars and discovered that even the connector for the area appear the same between the early impreza and the 02 wrx, the pin out for the ground wire is actually different. Once I got the ground re-connected, everything was happy.
Also had time enough to paint the passenger side floor with primer. I'll be painting the whole floor grey. The cage is black, and I will re-coat much of it. I have a bunch of POR 15 left around that I'll be using.
I also started booty fabbing my upper radiator support. I have it all mocked up and it appears to work fine. James had a slant mount intercooler, so the upper radiator support had been cutout. I just need neaten it up some. Won't look as good as kale's custom work, but it will be functional. The radiators upper mounts were broken in the rollover, so I'm using other mounts for the time being. The radiator support I'm making should work fine for a replacement radiator, should I get one in the near future.

Re: New project a comin'
Finished up the radiator support, and painted the rest of the front of the floor. Need to wire up the wiper motor, connectors don't match up and i can't substitute the old wiper motor. There are no exposed wired on the wiper motor to splice into, so I'm going to have to find a connecter that will work. I need to extend the wire anyway, as the wiper motor was on the passenger side of the old car and on the driver side of the new car.

Had a little more time today. Married the door wiring harness' together for the front doors. So the power windows and mirrors now function. If it ever gets warm enough I might be able to finish painting.

Re: New project a comin'
I was able to do a shakedown run at Devil's bowl this weekend. It went about as good as I could hope. I little bit of oil smoke had to burn off from the cat, courtesy of the roll over. Not a whole lot needs to be done to be ready for burke. I'd like to raise the seat up an inch or two and recline it a touch. A couple of wiring items and I'll be good to go.
Managed to get is logo'd up yesterday. If you aren't going to be fast, you might as well look fast.

Re: New project a comin'
As you might have seen in other threads, Scrappy is benefiting from my WRX wagon's demise due to rust.
Joey and James at Kales Custom swapped in the 2L turbo from the wagon, along with the custom exhaust they had made for the wagon previously. While in the shop they updated the cage, adding some new gussets in a few key places. They also put in an OEM clutch.
I picked up the car Friday evening, and ran it at the Devil's bowl autocross the next morning. I barely had time to check the oil, tire pressures, and re-route the seat belts(they also moved my seat closer to the center of the car). They do great work at Kale's customs, to say I'm happy is an understatement.
Certainly took a little getting used to. There is a fair amount more power. Where Scrappy was pretty low power before, I had to really push hard to keep momentum. If the car got out of shape, I could mash the throttle and the car would get back under control. Now, if I mash the throttle, the power can actually overwhelm the tires making it a little interesting ride. I'm not used to that. Those that saw my last morning run on Saturday saw me fight it a bit. As the afternoon came around, I was getting more stick and things went much better. Scrappy hasn't finished that high in the standings before this weekend, despite the low turn out, it was quite encouraging.
The 2L turbo motor combined with the 4.111(stock is 3.900) gear box is a fun setup, hopefully it will last me a while.
I still need to do a bunch of things before the next hillclimb in the middle of september. I want to put the rest of the wrx dash into the car. I need to move the seat forward a touch(it's hard mounted). The wiring harness could use a trim, as well as securing the wires a little bit better.
