I'll have to take my chances with the EMT empathy card. Might as well. Hopefully that and my driving record will make some sort of difference.

Not to drag up an old thread but i just finished my ticket ordeal in stupid NY.

There is a contest by mail option where you basically fill out a form with your info and plead your case. I got a copy of my driving record from the DMV, and included a copy of my military ID. They reduced my offence from speeding 70 in a 55 4 points, to failure to obey traffic sign 2 pts. Fine was 100 bucks with a mandatory NY state 85 dollar "surcharge" I called the local town court to ask if i could pay over the phone with a CC, she said no and they very rarely completely dismiss tickets any more. The best you can do is get a reduction. She also said my speeding fine would have been in the neighborhood of 300 bucks.

So, if you are unlucky enough to get pulled over and get issued a ticket in NY and don’t want to travel to the court for a plea try the plea by mail, saved me a few bucks
