2015: Philo in the spring... SCCV community efforts

Post by Rabbit Farmer »

EDIT: 22-Apr-2015.....

It is official. Be there at 845am at the bottom of the hill and bring your leaf blower and gas if you have one. Work gloves for all. Thank you!
Hi Steve,
I will be there from 9:00 am until 1/1:30 PM as will other volunteers so yes, you may bring your leaf blower. I will be at the top with the truck and trailer so others that do not have a blower can get a rake or other tools to help out. I will also be leaving the gate open so that any of the volunteers can drive to the top and park. You probably already know this about Mt. Philo State Park that it gets a lot of folks off season walking that park road. So if you are using the blower just be mindful of folks attempting to walk the park road. I will also have a volunteer sign in sheet for you to include your name and address so make sure you fill that out as well.

Really appreciate your help at Mt. Philo on Sunday, May 3 rd.

Best,
Dennis

------original conversation-------

I received a letter from the State of Vermont, Dept of Forest, Parks, and Recreation asking if the SCCV would have an interest in helping the parks open in the spring.

At one of the meetings this year, the membership in attendance thought it was a good idea.

Since spring is upon us, it might be time to spring (groan...) into action to do a bit for the community and the local state park.

Subject: SCCV and Mt. Philo... opening in the spring

Dennis.

We received your letter regarding helping to open Mt. Philo in the spring. Speaking with the rangers at Philo this past October, we expressed interest in bringing a crew to the hill this spring to blow all the leaves off the road, camping areas, etc. This is something that our membership still has an interest in to help at Mt. Philo.

Does this fit into your plan with opening Philo in the spring, and if so, where and when should we plan to make this happen.

Thank you
Steve

Did the State indicate which weekend would be best for us to help out? I generally have more flexibility on Sundays.

Ok so dates you’d like to pass by those wanting to volunteer :
May 3rd a Sunday 9-1/1:30 ( depending on if group would like to break for lunch ) so a four hour commitment.
May 10 th ( Mother’s Day ) and May 17 th same time as above. Please let me know what day and how many and we will make it work.
What say you?

The 17th is Ascutney so I am out that date. The other 2 should work for me. One of those weekends I have to grab Kate from school, but I think I can do that on a Saturday.

The 3rd would work better for me. I found out I will move Kate on the 9th 10th weekend. Weekends are filling up fast.
