A buddy of mine used to have one of these E350s that was great for towing and lugging his kids.

My Legacy is rated to tow 3,500lbs with a trailer brake. Towing ratings are wonky.

A couple of posts touched on it, but a LOT of rated tow capacity has to do with the "whoa!" My time at a dealership learned me that a Cummins turbo-diesel has enough torque to change the earth's rotation, but coming down [insert fav mountain road here] and having the mommy-van driver on the cel phone cross your path can, well, be a whole 'nother issue

Can't tell you much about how they tow, but those new Durango's are really nice to drive...
