That's OK, it's a Volvo. They relish being thrashed.tomf wrote:Better get this car ready. We are going to be thrashing on it.
"Please, sir, may I have another?"

Re: LeMons Volvo project
Do you guys still need Volvo lights or anything else? My 240 has all that crap but if you want anything (all free of course) we should make arrangements to do so before I bury it with other cars for the winter. It's at my house in Waitsfield. Let me know.

FYI, I was reading in GRM this last week and saw the schedule for the chumpcar series(similar to Lemons for those unaware), and they'll be having a race at calabogie this summer. Thought you guys might want to know.

Re: LeMons Volvo project
Not sure why we haven't shared the news with SCCV forums yet, but the Cow is bringing home the hardware once again. We kept our Top Ten streak alive and this time added a First in Class by finishing 9th overall and 1st in Class Ugly at New Jersey Motorsports Park's Lightning course last weekend.
The race wasn't 100% clean, of course. The track was wonderfully fast but our wheezy Volvo mill was no match for the V8s and 6s and turbo 4s that were there. Everyone drove clean except for one big incident on Sunday. About midway through my stint, a BMW E30 got the rear wheels into the mud on the exit of a sharp left-hander and snap-spun across the track right in front of the cow. I got hard on the binders but tagged left front of the Bimmer pretty hard with the right front of the cow and the back end slapped around to hit it, too. Somehow the suspension and engine and cooling system were undamaged. I drove it away once the corner workers gave me the OK to do so and the car seemed OK on the in lap. No penalty from the Lemons judges as we weren't at fault, and in the pits the guys determined the car was even uglier than it was before, but that I should go right back out.
I finished my stint and though we'd lost our chance to be the best car of all the B and C class cars and finish as high as 6th or 5th overall, we still stayed ahead of our C class competition and had the fastest car in Class B (another Volvo) sweating as we stayed just a lap behind them for all of Tom's closing stint.
Loudon, NH next, May 7-8. A lot of work to do between now and then to get the old gal ready, but I'm sure we'll giterdone. Buffalo Knuckles, are you guys going to be there?
