Cyl head has been ordered, it'll take about 4 weeks to get. That and with the other parts should put me at 115-120whp with premium gas...

Excellent. I need to drool on your car a bit, even if it's not brown like mine was.

Twin State Speedway is the cheapest I've seen around, about $5 a gallon last I checked.

"Welp, since racing is out of the question this year, I might as well tear into the car"

Old cylinder head is off and once I get the pistons out and new ones in, I'll start the rebuild. Ran into a slight snag tho'. when I ordered the cyl head, I foolishly assumed the block was a carb'd engine (seemed prudent as it currently has a carb, right). Well, it wasnt so seems the block is actually a FI motor. What does all this crap mean? Well, for one, the carb'd blocks had 12mm studs/bolts and the FI engines have 10mm bolts.

See where I'm going with this..?

The long bolts (easily accessible) are no problem and have some on the way. Now I have to find 5 10mm studs that shoulder out to 12mm. Or make 1mm sleeves...

Or....

tear into the other carb'd motor I have and realize it is indeed a carb'd block, complete with 12mm studs. Looks like I'm rebuilding that one for now. Since I'm doing that, I'll rebuild one of the transmission I have in pieces and maybe weld up the spider gears. Then....

Pics to follow!
