Yes. "Relatively light".
I like the V8, but damn do the I5's sound so cool. More in character for an 80's Audi, too.

V8's are shorter so you don't have as much understeer. (... as much..., because it's an Audi, and it's impossible not to have understeer. haha)

Yeah, having the weight a little further back is kind of nice. I was surprised at how much more neutral the 4000 felt when my buddy got it, compared to his '91 90 20v. At least in the snow.

I loved how my 87 4000 handled in the snow but I just could not take how differently it would run everyday. The 1990 90 20v ran so good and all the switches and button worked so much better.

Great score, you'll love the type85'er Audi quattro. I raced my 1985 4000S quattro in the 1994 Virginia City Hillclimb, worked like a top stock with 115hp, even placed second in my class, just barely being beat out by Ken Bennett. They were running race fuel, no belts and forgot to remove the cat ...

Nice video! My Bentley bible arrived today...time to order some new door handles, damn those things are flimsy.
I pass you semi-frequently on Westford-Milton Rd. Most of the time I was driving my (now sold) blue/black '91 Legacy with big red mudflaps and Hella 500's. A few times in my SAAB, too.

Yes of course I've seen you. Hmmm, I still have my Bentley from mine! Oh, well good to look at it. I bought mine in 1991 from the original owner, it was coming off lease and he needed to sell.

Ah yes, all the CIS-E nightmares are coming back to me... Fuel Distributors - ack!
So fun in the snow... will trail brake and power on oversteer so easily if you just ask them. 1990 90 20V Q was so much more buttoned down than the 4kq, but the 4kq was rowdier and ultimately more fun. Rallycross / ice race is what you want to do with this one, I'd think. Just get a good skid plate, do the regular maintenance, and run it until it breaks. Nice find.

CIS can be cranky, that's for sure. But I dunno, it's always been very reliable for me, my '81 240 had it, my '87 SAAB has it.
I can't wait to get this puppy registered, everything on the car works and works well...although I haven't tried the vacuum servos for the diffs, yet.
