I saw this mentioned on the bmw forums
HEREand thought others around here might be interested in this if the ice isnt ready by then.

They don't allow studs of any kind. Bummer. That said, if I can find a good set on snow tires to use, I'm in...uh, unless our ice is ready.

No studs comes from the NHMS owners. They don't want to risk their pavement in any way shape or form.
I can't run my car because of it so I'll be co-driving an Outback wagon haha.
