Weather update.
local forecast was for a dusting at low elevations and 3-4 inches up higher.
My house didn't even get a dusting and I'm at a "higher" elevation.
The base area of the ski mountain where I work, we barely had a dusting, and was mostly slush. Temps are above freezing. Mid mountain did get 3+ inches.
You'll have to be about 3000' to see any snow in the rally if it survives the warmth today.
It did rain for most of the night.

The weather guy on WDEV was talking about it this morning in terms of Burlington.
Apparently the burlington airport has a stat where they count how many days they've had at least 2 inches of snow on the ground.
This year they have less than a dozen reported days of 2 inches or more.
The average is 67 days. With a high of 100 or so days.
Warmer in burlington no doubt. However in the valley we've been pretty devoid of snow too.

My road turned into a rutted mess last night. Mud season in full effect. Got 2 inches of snow covering it. Be careful

Well this ought to be fun. Time to put the coilovers to full soft. Glad I've got a skid plate now
I went out on some local roads yesterday. Lots of pot holes but man was it greasy slippery

How about a follow up guys? I was stuck home replacing my clutch this year.

Well lets see..

I was 17th on the road of 30sh cars.
Buffum told me I was 1 of 3 cars to find the first check point.
Just before check point 2, we come across an angry farmer with his pick-up truck blocking the road while holding a hunting rifle across his knees (it really did kinda look like is his driveway) My co-driver and I talked him down while he had the gun hanging in my window. He eventually understood what was going on, and said we could pass, but no one else.
About a mile down the road we came to check-point 2 and told them the situation. We also phoned JB and eventually check-point 2 and 3 were thrown out. Mind you it was hardly 10pm at this point

The roads for the most part were a mixture. Either fairly smooth with a compression "gotcha" or rutted tracks which got real annoying.
Towards the end of the night, there was some odd snow powder roads, with no banks which made it sketchy.

As an event, it was the best my co-driver and I have had. We found every check point and only got turned around a few times, each time we used a stop watch to calculate a time allowance. However, we were totally gutted at the P&H to see that we were WAY down the standings. I just can't figure it out to be honest. We saw endless cars milling around lost, especially in the beginning of the night. We cruised right through finding every turn and check-point as described in the route book... or so we thought. Im guessing we must completely suck at time allowances and keeping a CAS ?

Anyhow, anyone seen any final results ?

You know I wouldn't have known "Mud Season" was an actual thing if it weren't for a Vermonter roomate telling me about it 5 years ago.

I havent participated in the rally for a few years but had a similar incident with a farmer and a rifle....good times. In the rules it does say co-drivers are responsible for maintenance of the vehicle, scheduling, pace notes....and negotiating with angry gunman.
