I actually have 3 ZCs, 2 installed, one torn apart waiting to be rebuilt. One of them needs a head gasket, but runs very strong. We'll have to talk this over sometime

The CRX is retired for the season. I have what sounds like a loose wrist pin or a bearing going bad after the fifth run Saturday at the Ascutney Hillclimb.
190k miles and years of being used as a race car finally caught up with the D16A6. I parked it before any catastrophic could happen.
It was a great litmus test for seeing where the car is though. It was easily the least powerful car on the hill, had a novice driver, and still pulled a 3:28. It started life with 108hp, I'd be surprised if it was seeing any more than 80hp at the wheels now.
Things I learned:
-The car is sprung too hard for hill climbs. Need to order some 300lb springs and swap the 400's out. I'll switch springs back and forth for hillclimbs and track work.
-It's likely time for new shocks too.
-Need more powah! Aiming to have 160-170hp at the wheels next season with this engine or another one. Possibly a K20A2 in the near future if I can get finances in order.
-It's time to go on a more serious diet. There's another 200lbs I can take out of the car to get to around 1,800lbs.
- It's also time to sell the 15x7" rims and 205/50-15 R888's in favor of 13x9" and Hoosiers.

Depends... I used to run 450 lb front and 300 lb rear springs on my 1983 VW Rabbit; it handled all the bumps at Ascutney without any issues. The difference was that I ran tender springs (300 front and 150 rear) in addition to the mains (450 front / 300 rear) to suck up the small bumpers. I'll take that into consideration.
If I had my druthers I'd have two separate spring/shock combos to swap in and out. I can easily do the springs. A second set of shocks could get costly though.

This is ONE set of springs... called a stepped setup. A main spring and a tender spring (unsure if it matters which one is on top, but I also ran the tender there)

A k20 in the CRX would easily put you over the 170 WHP mark and would be an easy but expensive swap. A 1800lb car with a 200HP motor would be a blast. Just make sure you put a LSD in there our source a JDM k20a, or Civic Si transmission.
What about the good old b16a? Simple, cheap and reliable. You can find the OBDI B16 series engines with transmission for around $1000. K-pro would alone cost $1000 and the B16s can make around 175 WHP with bolt-ons.

Yeah I'm familiar with the setup. I had helper springs on my RSX. The CRX has ZERO droop so fitting 2 springs would be a challenge without going back to normal tophats on the shocks and raising the ride height. Which means new alignment and handling characteristics.
