Where about's in VA are you moving from? (My Mom was raised outside D.C. - Alexandria - and still have relatives sprinkled throughout the state...)

And (fwiw), my line is that the club seems to be 1/3 Miatas / 1/3 Subarus / 1/3 the rest of us
We're in Richmond, VA - I grew up on the East End of Long Island and my wife is from the Albany area.
But that was 20 years ago, since then it's been Asheville NC, then Milwaukee WI, then Richmond VA.
My parents actually moved down here to VA about 8 years ago, just west of the Charlottesville area.
And my god there alot more Subies up in VT than VA.

OK so the company the wife is applying to for a software QA testing spot came in WAY under what she's making now.
So both of us will need jobs lined up to move.
Anyone have any suggestions on where I could look for a CAD Tech/Designer/Draftsman spot?
Over 10 years experience in any discipline you can think of using Autocad products and Microstation.
I don't need leads per say just names of places to apply.
Plus I'll be using Monster, Dice, Aerotek, google etc....

IF someone actually finds me something.....well :drinkers: I'm the generous sort.

Here are a few you might look at:

Hayward Tyler -Colchester
FabTech - Colchester
Preci Manufacturing - Winooski
Husky Injection -Milton
Goodrich Sensors/Integrated Systems - Vergennes

I can talk to our drafting guys and see what other recommendations they might have or if they hear of anything.

Also, there's a group called the Technical Connection, Inc in Burlington that can help with networking for technical professionals.

Do you have experience with solid modeling (SolidWorks, Inventor, etc)? I know a lot of small to mid-size tech (Burton, NRG, AllEarth, MicroStrain...) companies in our area use SolidWorks (where I work, included).

Wages tend to be on the low side here, compared to major metro areas. But it's worth it. :D

not really, it's more along the lines of Architectural BIM type drafting (Architectural, Electrical, Piping, Civil, Structural) I have experience with.

Ah, OK. Well there are several civil engineering and architectural firms in the area.

Engineering Ventures
Trudell Consulting
Champlain Consulting
Green Mountain Engineering
Hoyle, Tanner & Assoc. (One of our club members, Laura aka lwheelock is an engineer here)
Hertzberg Consulting

And yikes, 20K is a big pay cut...
